*Resolved* Possible Record Indexing Issue on 1/20

SWAN Member Library Staff:

Following a successful database index rebuild last night, the indexing issue appears to be resolved. If you continue to encounter problematic records today, please email help@swanlibraries.net with examples for further investigation.

*UPDATE on 1/21 at 4pm*

SWAN Member Library and Information Technology Staff:

To get ahead of this indexing issue, we’re planning a database index rebuild this evening, beginning at 6:30pm. The rebuild can take up to 13 hours (but hopefully much less,) and WorkFlows will be inaccessible throughout the process. Additionally, some scheduled Sunday evening reports may be unable to run. We recommend running these reports again tomorrow morning after the rebuild has concluded.

The following SWAN services will be inaccessible during the rebuild until tomorrow morning:

-      Symphony Server

All WorkFlows access (cataloging, circulation, etc)

SIP2 3rd Party Vendor Integration (databases, electronic media)

SIP2 Hardware/Software Integration (AMH, self-check, PC reservation, print release)

-      MobileCirc

Enterprise will continue to be accessible to patrons and staff.

We’ll send an additional SWANcom as soon as the work has completed, which we expect before regular library hours tomorrow morning.

 

*UPDATE on 1/21 at 12pm*

SWAN Member Library Staff:

Last night’s overnight processing did not appear to fully resolve the indexing errors that were reported on Saturday.

We will be running a report beginning this evening, which should clear up these indexing errors.

 

Please note that, while the affected titles are not searchable within WorkFlows, they are searchable within Enterprise. Holds may also be placed on these items in Enterprise and the items will still circulate normally.

SWAN Member Library Staff:

We’re currently investigating reports of several records that do not appear to have indexed properly with the regularly overnight processing. These records are available for holds in Enterprise, and can still be checked out, but seem to be unsearchable in WorkFlows.

While the scope of this issue is limited, one popular title impacted was Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House. This title is now available, following a correction by SirsiDynix support, but please let us know if you encounter any other records that seem to be experiencing this issue by emailing help@swanlibraries.net. We hope for all affected records to be corrected with the next overnight processing and will investigate reported records tomorrow morning.
