RESOLVED 9/9/2022 10:00
SWAN has completed checking files brought in by Baker & Taylor processes. Libraries using Baker & Taylor may now resume all ordering functions. Open a ticket (help@swanlibraries.net) if you experience any issues with your process.
If you have paper copies of invoices dated Aug 17 - Sep 5 that have not been added to WorkFlows you should contact Baker & Taylor Support to have them add the files to their FTP Server.

UPDATE 9/7/2022 1:20 PM
We are continuing to work with libraries to test and verify safety of transmissions from Baker & Taylor. You may resume the following:
Now: Run your EDI Retrieval Report. We are running additional EDI Receive reports to process the invoice files brought in with these reports.
After 2:30 PM: Run your Book X12 Invoice Report
While testing the EDI Retrieval report we did find there were invoice files that were not on the Baker & Taylor server. Please contact us if you are missing invoice files.
Baker & Taylor sent an email with an updated IP address for TS 360 this morning, this will be needed if your library restricts to white listed websites. Please contact us if you did not receive the email and need the updated IP address. The email also indicated TS 360 is available but they are noticing significant traffic. The SWAN libraries we worked with this morning experienced issues with accessing and/or downloading carts; they were not able to download any carts. To avoid further frustration we recommend waiting until there is less competition on the Baker & Taylor website before attempting to download carts. We suggest either this evening after 6:00 PM or early tomorrow morning.

UPDATE 9/6/2022 5:00 PM
Baker & Taylor is reporting many disrupted services are back online today and TS 360 should be fully functional and accessible tomorrow. Baker & Taylor will be reaching out to individual libraries with a new IP address to access TS 360.
We will be working with a couple of SWAN libraries to test and verify safety of transmissions from Baker & Taylor. Once we have successfully completed that, we will continue enabling services for all libraries with Baker & Taylor. Until we have completed this testing we ask you to wait for an all clear from us before resuming your orders with Baker & Taylor. This includes the following processes:
- Downloading and saving your carts from TS 360
- Using the MARC Order Input wizard in WorkFlows Acquisitions
-
Running any of the following reports:
- Load Bibs with Order Info
- Load Flat Order Records
- Book X12 Orders
- EDI File Transmission
- EDI File Retrieval

UPDATE 9/2/2022 1:25 PM
SWAN is maintaining the following safeguards as Baker & Taylor continues to restore their systems:
- Axis360 is disabled in Aspen, titles will display in Aspen but patrons cannot check items out, place holds, or see checkouts/holds
- Baker & Taylor is being excluded from all EDI Retrieve and Transmit reports for Acquisitions
Baker & Taylor updated their website with the following today:
Update as of 9/02/2022: As Baker & Taylor has previously announced, we detected a ransomware incident that is affecting several B&T services. Our IT staff and others are working incredibly hard to restore our systems to allow us to continue serving our customers, and we are pleased to report that we are making good progress on these efforts. Our phone systems are operational, and our value-added services are being brought back online in our service centers.
As we continue our recovery efforts, we understand that you may be concerned about whether it is safe for you to interact with Baker & Taylor electronically. We want to assure you that confirming the security of our environment has been, and remains, a top priority for us as we work through the recovery process. In fact, the methodical pace of our restoration is in part a reflection of our efforts to recover safely and thoughtfully, with guidance from industry experts. We expect additional systems to come online shortly. But consistent with our approach, we will not bring them up until we are confident in their security.
We know how disruptive this incident has been for our customers and partners and we remain committed to fully resolving it. We will continue to partner with our cyber intelligence experts to further investigate, and we will provide additional relevant information as it becomes available.

UPDATE 8/29/2022 11:00 AM
Baker & Taylor updated their website with the following:
Update as of 8/29/2022: We want to take this opportunity to thank you again for your continued patience and cooperation as we deal with the service disruption we’ve been experiencing. We know that it has been frustrating, and we appreciate your ongoing understanding.
As an update, the source of the disruption is a ransomware attack launched against our network over the weekend, which we have been working to remediate ever since. Cyber-attacks are an increasing threat to all companies, and unfortunately, we, like others fell victim to a hacker’s attack.
Our IT team and outside experts are working nonstop to restore our systems.
We will continue to provide updates and look forward to returning to normal operations as quickly as possible.
Thank you for your patience and partnership.

Baker & Taylor sent an email with the following information:
Over the weekend, a server outage impacted systems and applications across Baker & Taylor. Several systems are affected including Title Source 360, EDI and phone systems at our offices and service centers.
We do not have an estimated restoration time currently but anticipate this outage could extend beyond today. We will provide status updates via email and www.baker-taylor.com.
If your EDI File Retrieval and EDI File Transmission reports include Baker & Taylor vendors they will complete with an error indicating they could not connect to Baker & Taylor. No action is required by you. Once Baker & Taylor resolves their server issue, all ordering and invoicing will resume.
-
EDI File Retrieval
- This report retrieves and removes your invoice files from the Baker & Taylor server. Your files will remain on the Baker & Taylor server until the report can connect.
-
EDI File Transmission
- This report sends the order files created with your Book X12 Orders report. These files will remain on the Symphony server until the report can connect
We will continue to monitor the status of the Baker & Taylor server and will update this issue as more information becomes available.
If you placed an EDI order with Baker and Taylor and have run your Book X12 Orders report, know that ordering the same titles from a different vendor will result in duplicate orders.
