Update 10/31/2022: OverDrive has completed the conversion of the MediaOnDemand collection. We will be verifying everyone's parameters and addressing any outliers.
Update 10/6/2022: Our representative from Hoopla has confirmed that they have migrated all Hoopla subscribers to the new encrypted port.
OverDrive is currently working on the Media on Demand libraries as well. Library Market had also reached out to us with some connectivity problems. We used this opportunity to move Library Market to an encrypted port as well.
Update 9/30/2022: OverDrive has successfully moved all eMediaLibrary members to the encrypted port.
OverDrive will begin to move the Media on Demand members on Monday, October 3. They anticipate this change to take longer than the others, due to the number of subscribers.
Update 9/26/2022: OverDrive will begin moving the eMediaLibrary collection beginning today, and expect to have each site's change in place by Friday, September 30. The tentative plan is to begin moving the Media on Demand sites beginning Monday, October 3, however this date may still change.
Update 9/23/2022: OverDrive has confirmed that each library using the Digital Library of Illinois collection has been successfully moved over to the new, encrypted port. We are working to schedule eMediaLibrary now and will update this post once we have selected a date to begin.
As part of our effort to maintain the security and integrity of the Personally Identifiable Information (PII) accessed by external vendors, SWAN requires all externally accessible SIP2 connections to be encrypted via TLS-SIP2.
On Tuesday, September 20, Overdrive will change the connection settings on their end to enable the TLS encryption. We anticipate this change will only take a few minutes and do not anticipate any impact to OverDrive users.
We have been working directly with OverDrive for the past several weeks, and their team have successfully tested against our environment and are prepared to begin the process of moving the OverDrive libraries to the secured connection. OverDrive libraries within SWAN are split across three different OverDrive collections; Media on Demand, eMediaLibrary, and Digital Library of Illinois. We will be moving these collections individually, beginning with Digital Library of Illinois. Once we have confirmed that Digital Library of Illinois is working as intended, we will schedule eMediaLibrary, followed by Media on Demand.
We expect to have all OverDrive connections secured within the next couple weeks. We have several other vendors that will also need to be moved to an encrypted connection. Hoopla has also confirmed that they are capable of using TLS-SIP2 and will be the next vendor scheduled once the OverDrive connections have been updated.
