Delay with Yahoo/AOL patron emails

We’re currently experiencing issues delivering emails to patrons with Yahoo or AOL email addresses. We’re submitted cases with both Yahoo and our volume email service to seek resolution and are currently waiting on a response.

This issue impacts all checkout receipts, bills, and other notices sent from our Symphony server on January 8th or 9th. While none of these emails have been lost, they’re currently being deferred or delayed from delivery on the Yahoo email servers. Once the issue has been resolved, all emails should be delivered to the respective patron accounts.

Yahoo email delays could also impact patrons attempting to update their PINs via Enterprise who have Yahoo email addresses associated with their account.

We're now seeing nearly all Yahoo emails delivered after a delay of about 24 hours. We're continuing to work with Yahoo to resolve this issue, but can confirm the only undelivered emails to this point have been due to improperly formed email addresses in the patron record or deactivated Yahoo accounts. In both of these cases, the patrons' respective libraries would have received a bounce notification to their aliased SWAN email address (aaa@notices.swanlibraries.net) prompting follow-up.

Over the weekend of the 12th, Yahoo began accepting our emails at a normal rate and we're now seeing the expected delivery times. The issue is now resolved.
