Notes
The group reviewed the E-Resource Working Group SharePoint site and charge. Olivia pointed out the section for important links the group is working on and the events section that has links to the Zoom meetings and agenda.
The group shared new electronic resources acquired by the libraries. The group also discussed changes to the upcoming EBSCO supplemental databases for purchase for the upcoming year.
There was also a discussion regarding the upcoming changes to OverDrive authentication and what that means for library staff. Members are excited at the prospect of not having to go into Marketplace to update barcodes, etc., but some good questions came out of the discussion. Olivia is going to take those questions to the SWAN/OverDrive team for clarification.
The group collectively decided to add a link to all SWAN Aspen catalogs from NoveList, NoveList K-8, NoveList Plus, and NoveList K-8 Plus databases. Olivia will complete this by the next time the group meets in May.
Troubleshooting documentation and the Miro board were reviewed. No changes to it have been made since October 2024. The group will plan to spend time updating/adding to the board at the next meeting.
Together the group voted on which Explora profiles to create. The overwhelming majority is Explora for Public Libraries. Explora profiles for Elementary, Middle, and High School all being ranked as "nice to have". The group was then charged with researching the databases available from the State of Illinois and tagging the resources to see which Explora profile group they best belonged to. The activity was done using Miro. The group will review and tidy up any last-minute changes in the next meeting.
Olivia will work on gathering a list of libraries that do not have Explora profiles set up in EBSCO. The group will present the profiles by the end of 2025.
