Online Patron Registration Update

Submitted by Scott Brandwein on

We are gearing up for our launch of online patron registration for full-access cards using the Patron Point Verify tool. We will be going live on Tuesday, August 26th.

Since Monday, our early adopters have been testing the tool, and the results have been positive so far. We are continuing to keep a close eye on registrations.

Orientations

We hosted a live orientation on the tool yesterday via Zoom, and we have another scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. You can find it here on L2. It is an opportunity to learn about how the tool works and what you can expect to see at launch. If you cannot attend, we will release a recorded version later in the week.

Registering children/minors

There has been a slight change to our form for registering patrons under 18. If you are planning to host the form on your website, the forms for adults and minors require separate embeds. Both are available in our documentation on the support site: Online Patron Registration

On the SWAN-hosted form that is available for all libraries to use, we have opted for a tabbed navigation between adult and child/minor registration forms.

Aspen link

Many of you have links on your Aspen catalog log-in interfaces, as illustrated here:

If your link currently goes to the SWAN online-only card registration tool, we plan to update it to link to the new Patron Point registration form on August 26th. Please let us know if you would prefer not to make this change or have it updated to something different.

If your link goes to something other than the SWAN online registration tool (e.g., registration information on your library website, an existing Patron Point registration form, etc.) we will not change it.
