Introduction to MobileStaff

MobileStaff is an app you can install and run on an iPad or Android tablet that will allow you to perform Circulation, Inventory, and Weeding processes using a WiFi connection.

Managing holds

On-shelf Holds Pull List

Take your device in the aisles to process your pull list. If you are not able to locate the item mark it missing directly in MobileStaff rather than manually checking it out in WorkFlows.

Manage HoldShelf

Use your device to pull items with canceled, expired, and suspended holds off the holdshelf rather than printing a list.

Inventory

Using Inventory in MobileStaff to scan your items has the added benefit of alerting you to items in the wrong order on your shelf.
Conduct an Inventory

Weeding

Use the Deselect function in MobileStaff to perform weeding in the aisles. Enter a "dusty date" to create a list of items you may want to weed from your collection. This list is generated in order by call number; for each item you can click on either discard or mark missing by tapping on the appropriate icon.

Mark Item Used

Take your device with you in the library to mark items used rather than bringing the items to a service desk.

Off-site Use

Use a mobile hotspot to use MobileStaff for off-site functions like book bikes, farmers markets, school visits, registration drives, etc. Search for previous records to re-register or create new records. The device camera will allow you to add patron photos but signature pads are not supported. Bring items with you to checkout to new cardholders on spot.

To get set up with MobileStaff review the MobileStaff (Tablets / Mobile Devices) requirements and recommendations page. Once you have your equipment follow the steps on the MobileStaff Setup page, including the MobileStaff Device Registration form.
