Registering and activating your device with SWAN
Submit a MobileStaff Device Registration form for your library devices. You may register up to five devices per registration form.
SWAN will not activate your MobileStaff device without a completed registration and acceptance of license terms.
SWAN support staff will then reach out to you to schedule MobileStaff activation. During that time, SWAN support staff will also review the app's functions..
Signing in to MobileStaff
Once your device has been registered, licensed, and has an internet connection:
- Open MobileStaff and log in
- Your library's assigned username and password found in Accounts & Logins
- If this is your first time logging in or you have not used the device in several weeks, your initial login can take several minutes
- Note: If MobileStaff is deleted or otherwise removed from the device, SWAN will need to reactivate the device before you may log in
Connecting Bluetooth peripherals
- Power on your Bluetooth peripheral and ensure it's in 'pairing mode'
- Go to Settings>Bluetooth on your device
- Select Pair/Connect when the peripheral you wish to connect appears in the list
Barcode Scanners
Socket Mobile SocketScan Series scanners are compatible with MobileStaff. SWAN recommends two models; one capable of scanning the QR code on Drivers Licenses for patron registration. The second model can only scan standard barcodes. Refurbished models may also be available direct from SocketScan.
SocketScan S720 - Drivers License Enabled
SocketScan S700 - Standard Barcodes Only
- Scanners appear as a keyboard to the system; no setup is required beyond pairing
- Scanning a library barcode in the Notes app is a great way to ensure your scanner is reading correctly
- If your scanner is not decoding the barcode properly, or you wish to change settings, please refer to the documentation provided with your device
Note: Do not download the companion app for SocketScan barcode scanners; basic mode must be used
Receipt Printers
If you are connecting a receipt printer, additional setup is required in MobileStaff:
- In MobileStaff, select Setup>Devices
- In the Receipt Printer dropdown, select your printer
- Under Setup>Check Out, check the Print Receipts box
- Note: Please see our Peripherals documentation for model recommendations
