MobileStaff (Tablets / Mobile Devices)

SWAN uses MobileStaff (formerly MobileCirc) for check-out, patron registration, and renewal functions while outside of the library. MobileStaff is most commonly used by library staff for circulating material at community events, or for inventory in the stacks. MobileStaff is supported on Apple iOS and Android devices. This page details SWAN's recommendations for this hardware.

Tablet requirements and recommendations

All recommendations are for hardware capable of running the latest operating system to ensure continued software support for several years. The MobileStaff application requires very little space for installation, base models offer sufficient storage.

Android devices, while compatible, are not recommended due to unreliable behavior when working with recommended Bluetooth peripherals. Libraries may still register Android devices, especially if you do not intend on using a scanner or printer.

All MobileStaff devices must be library-owned and registered with SWAN to receive licensing.
