SWAN website updates coming Tuesday, August 26th

Submitted by Aaron Skog on

The SWAN support site is moving! It will now be located at swanlibraries.net.

What is changing?

URL and links

SWAN currently supports two websites, a public-facing site at swanlibraries.net and a staff support site at support.swanlibraries.net. We are moving to one site, at swanlibraries.net. We hope this will make it easier for everyone to find what they need from SWAN.

  • If you have any saved bookmarks to the staff support site (support.swanlibraries.net), these will redirect and no action is required on your part.
  • If you have the SWAN public site (swanlibraries.net) listed on your website or print materials, this URL will not change and no action is required
  • Some links to individual pages in the public site have changed; these will also redirect - but we ask that you change these at your earliest convenience
    • Member library list: swanlibraries.net/member-libraries is now swanlibraries.net/libraries
    • Forgot card: swanlibraries.net/your-library-account/forgot-library-card is now swanlibraries.net/forgot-card
    • Online registration: swanlibraries.net/patron-registration-form is now swanlibraries.net/get-a-card

We will move the site the evening of Monday, August 25th so it will be live for library staff the morning of Tuesday, August 26th.

Access to documentation and other pages

We have heard from many library staff that logging in to access documentation and other areas of the site is a barrier. We have heard you, and most pages on the SWAN site will be accessible without a log in.

Some areas of the site will still be behind a login. These include:

  • Staff logins
  • Patron lookup tools
  • Reports and statistics
  • Some software downloads
  • Training recordings and courses
  • SWAN staff contact information
  • SWAN help desk (Halo ITSM)

In addition, logging in will allow you to bookmark your frequently used pages.

Site menu

We have updated the site menu to guide both the public and staff to the resources you need. Thank you to all of the library staff who participated in usability testing for our new menu! Library staff can head to the Library Staff Portal to access documentation and staff resources.

What do I need to do?

No immediate action is needed on your part. We are hard at work to set up redirects so you will not experience any disruptions. If you do encounter a broken link, please submit a ticket.
