Staff and OPAC workstation requirements and recommendations
*Updated September 2024*
When considering new desktop computer hardware for your library’s staff and public workstations, please refer to the minimum hardware requirements for SWAN's ILS platforms.
- SirsiDynix’s Symphony WorkFlows client, which accounts for nearly all staff functions, utilizes a proprietary Java installation that is updated with each new release of Symphony.
- Aspen and the EBSCO Discovery Service, our discovery and OPAC platforms, are compatible with most current browser configurations on a variety of operating systems and hardware configurations. Browsers no longer supported by their respective developers or OS platforms are also not supported by most Discovery tools (i.e. Internet Explorer)
- BLUEcloud Circulation, Cataloging, Acquisitions, and Analytics are browser-based platforms. They are compatible with most current Windows-based web browsers. As the BLUEcloud platform continues to evolve, the compatibility of certain legacy hardware and software configurations may vary.
