The Aspen 22.08 release is now live. This release includes:
- Layout changes to editions information in search results
- My Account menu changes
- "New" flag for titles added in the past week
- Performance improvements to handle indexing from bots
Layout changes to editions information in search results
The information found under "Show Editions" in search results now features a compact, mobile-friendly display that displays more clearly on both mobile and desktop devices.
My Account menu changes
You will see several updates to the My Account menu. Your Library Card (A) appears more prominently in the menu. Your Lists (B) no longer displays the menu with all lists and instead links to the Lists page. Your Searches (C) will show when any saved searches have added new titles in the past week. Several settings have moved under an Account Settings accordion (D) including Linked Accounts and Reset PIN.
"New" flag for titles added in the past week
For patrons with saved searches, titles in a search that have been added in the last week will display a "new" flag. The flag is set based on the oldest copy in the grouped record (this prevents replacement copies being flagged as "new").
We also have the ability to show this flag in search results. We are enabling this in the SWAN consortium catalog only (catalog.swanlibraries.net) for you to see how it works and for us to gather feedback. Share your thoughts through the SWAN forums thread. Use the "Added in the last" filter set to "week" to see the new flag.
Performance improvements to handle indexing from bots
Aspen will now be able to better handle traffic from indexing bots, including Applebot, that can impact performance and cause slowness.
