De-Newing
De-newing is a function that uses Symphony reports to automatically convert the Item Types and/or Locations of new items to the main collection after a set period of time.
Discards
This is a description of the process SWAN uses for discarding items, including the steps necessary for your library to discard an item and the automated reports that complete the process.
OCLC Holdings Maintenance
SWAN maintains your library's OCLC holdings using a tool we developed called the OCLC Holdings Manager (OHM). No action is required on the part of member libraries regarding holdings maintenance.
Canceled Publication Patron Notification Tool
SWAN has developed an internal tool for use when ordered materials will no longer be published or otherwise unavailable for circulation. The tool cancels patron holds and sends notifications to those patrons. This document outlines the mechanics of the tool and the procedures SWAN staff will follow regarding its use.
Missing Item Removal
Using Symphony’s item discard tools, SWAN automatically removes items that are missing or that patrons claim to have returned. This process is similar to our process for removing items charged to your DISCARD users, but in this case, the reports automatically select items to remove.
Batch loading OCLC records into WorkFlows
This is a two-step process that uses the MARC Import wizard and the Load Bibliographic Records (Bibload) report to batch import records from OCLC into WorkFlows.
Don't use batch loading if you are using MARC Listener. If you change the settings to Bibliographic Record Export, MARC Listener will not work.
