Public library patron hold options
Any SWAN public library patron can pick up holds at any SWAN library. This includes non-SWAN reciprocal borrowers and Chicago Public Library patrons.
In the catalog and the Mobile app, patrons can choose a preferred pickup location other than their home library. Library staff can also select the preferred pickup location in WorkFlows.
Note: ILL_LIBS is no longer a valid pickup location. However, since it is the "home library" for non-SWAN reciprocal borrowers:
- ILL_LIBS is visible as a location in WorkFlows
- If patrons do not select a hold pickup location in the BLUEcloud Mobile app, it will default to their home library (ILL_LIBS).
If a hold is set to be routed to ILL_LIBS, library staff may need to investigate to route the hold to the appropriate location.
Limited hold pickup locations
Pseudo-libraries (lockers or drive-up windows) can be set as a pick-up location for all patrons or your library's patrons only.
School, academic, and special libraries are valid pickup locations for their library's patrons only.
