Item Renewals

Learn about the renewing item wizards in the Common Task Wizard group and information on how Autorenewals work.

The most common wizards to use for renewing materials are circled below:

Unseen renewals (including ALL renewals in the catalog) will be blocked until 3 days before due date. 

Autorenewals

A custom report that automatically attempts to renew materials checked out at your library. This report runs two days before the items are due. 

Note: SWAN began running the Auto-Renewal report on June 14, 2017.

Report details

This report checks to see if the item is eligible for renewal based on two factors:

  1. Renewal limits set by the circulating/charging library
  2. Are there any holds on the item/title

If renewal limits have been met or there are holds on the item, the renewal is declined.

Reminders

If a library decides to opt out of autorenewals, those items checked out by your patrons at a participating library may be renewed if they meet the criteria stated above.
